MUSLIM WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAPHY

Muslim weddings are one of the most sacred and joyful weddings we have come across. Muslim Weddings are full of beautiful rituals and ceremonies. Wedding is one life changing day for a couple. Muslim weddings are full of rituals and colourful ceremonies who won’t want to capture all this at once and treasure it for years. We have experienced one such project to shoot a Muslim wedding and we are in love with everything. Before shooting on the wedding day we planned everything beforehand. We asked couple to arrange a meeting before the wedding date so that we can get familiar with every ritual and ceremony they have. Our team came up with the following division of the whole wedding and categorized everything in order:

  1. Istikhara Ritual

This is the first and foremost ritual which marks the beginning of a Muslim wedding. Under this ritual all the religious heads of the Muslim community come together to pray and seek blessings of Allah to begin with the Muslim wedding and to commence the rituals. We decided to capture this ceremony from two different angles so as to cover the whole ritual.

  1. Imam-Zamin Ritual

Under this ritual Groom’s mother visits the house of Bride to be and she offers some gifts to the Muslim bride to be. Gifts are given before marriage which includes gold ornaments, silver ornaments, sweets, clothes and etc wrapped in a silk cloth. We decided to shoot the video of the whole ceremony and took some still and random pictures. We preferred to give these pictures a very bright effect to reflect the glittery moment.

  1. Mangni

Engagement is a known as Mangni in Muslim Community. We shot the whole ceremony the way we shot an engagement although we do love the colourful arrangement of the venue. Afterwards we recorded the exchange of gifts between both the families. Gifts included some sweets, fruits and dry fruits.

  1. Manjha Ritual

Under Manjha Ritual bride to be wear yellow clothes and paste of Haldi is applied all over her body. We captured the bride covered in haldi giggling and laughing with her siblings and friends.

  1. Mehndi Ceremony

Mehndi ceremony is pre-wedding ritual where brides and all the other female members colour their hands and feet with the beautiful designs made from the paste of mehndi leaves. We captured Muslim bride to be showcasing her hands and feet covered with beautiful mehndi designs.

  1. Nikaah Ceremony

Wedding ceremony is known as Nikaah in Muslim community. Nikaah is a ceremony under which a priest conducts the whole ceremony in the presence of the close family members. We shot the entire ceremony and captured some random and still pictures. The father of groom to be and bride to be plays an important role in the ceremony.

  1. Mehar Ceremony

Under Mehar ceremony elders from both the side of families gather to decide the amount of Mehar to be given. We captured the discussion and laughter exchanged by the elderly. Afterwards the decided amount of Mehar was given by the Groom’s family to the bride’s family.

  1. Nikaahnama

Nikaahnama is a document which registers a marriage legally. It consists of certain set of rules and regulations which both the sides must follow. For the contract to be legal, it must be signed by both groom and bride. Lastly we captured the whole signing of contact.
